The RESPECT PROJECT

A validated tool for predicting mortality risk

RESPECT is a validated risk communication tool, powered by a prediction algorithm that estimates an older adult's risk of death within 6 months. It improves the earlier identification of palliative and end-of-life care needs, guides goals of care conversations and informs health system care planning, in a diverse older adult population in their final years of life receiving long-term care and home care services.

Meet THE TEAM

Who is behind RESPECT?

We are Canadian researchers, clinicians, data scientists and developers passionate about improving the end-of-life experiences of older adults and care providers. We know predicting survival is hard, and current tools fail to identify need early in a person's health trajectory. We also know having conversations about your, or your loved ones, goals and wishes for care can be difficult given the uncertainty. We have therefore developed tools and resources to inform these conversations and support care planning through personalized and interpretable data.
